Inclusive Education
At Anfield School we believe that every child deserves an opportunity to learn and should be supported within an environment that is inclusive of their needs. In order to meet their needs through a partial inclusion approach, the St. Bosco Centre at Anfield School, Tai Wai, aims to provide a modified teaching programme based on the skills needed to access the U.K. National Curriculum. These include the relevant life skills required to become global citizens, in this international setting. Within the St. Bosco Centre, a personalised curriculum is created for students, which includes the core subjects of maths, English and science. Learning objectives and activities are tailored specifically to the needs of each child, allowing them to develop a firm foundation of basic skills, whilst being challenged at an appropriate level. During some subjects, students will have partial inclusion into the mainstream classrooms. This enables them to develop social skills and get used to learning within a larger group setting.
The number of students within a St. Bosco Centre class is low, with a fully qualified teacher who has experience working with SEN students and two teaching assistants to support. This enables every pupil to access a high level of support in order to maximise their academic learning and progress. As the students continue to progress with their learning, we aim to achieve full inclusion into a mainstream class at a later stage.
