Speech & Language Therapy
Speech, language and communication skills play a crucial role in a child’s development and their ability to achieve their educational potential. However, not all children have the speech, language and communication skills that they need to fully engage with their learning.
At our St. Bosco Koon Yong School, as well as specialist teaching, we provide access to Speech and Language Therapy as part of the learning programme for our students. Teachers and therapists plan appropriate learning activities together as part of a multidisciplinary team, so that skills are consolidated within the classroom and there is consistency in approach. Working alongside the class teacher, our Speech and Language Therapist creates personalised targets and strategies for support for each child, which are shared with parents at regular meetings throughout the academic year.
Our resident Speech and Language therapist works with students individually and in small groups to develop their language and communication skills. They also provide training to our staff teams so that they can best support students by identifying signs of speech, language and communication needs more effectively and efficiently.
