Our Parents In Partnership

At Anfield St. Bosco Koon Ying School, we deeply understand the profound impact that a strong partnership with parents can have on our pupils’ educational journeys. We are committed to collaborating closely with you to enhance your child’s learning experience. We believe that by sharing insights into your child’s progress and the teaching methods we employ, we can collectively support their growth and development.
As parents of pupils with additional needs, we recognise the importance of working alongside a variety of professionals who contribute to your child’s learning journey. Your involvement is invaluable, and together, we can create a supportive environment that fosters positive outcomes for your child.

Sharing the learning journey with you

We pride ourselves on our ‘open-door’ policy, which encourages regular communication between parents and our dedicated staff. To facilitate this partnership, we hold Parent/Teacher Consultations three times a year – in November, March, and June – where we discuss your child’s wellbeing and academic progress in detail. Additionally, we provide written reports in November (Settling-in Report) and June (End of Year Report) to keep you informed about your child’s achievements and areas for growth.

In addition to these consultations, we also organise annual Team Around the Child (TAC) Meetings. During these meetings, we invite parents, school staff, and any external therapists or professionals who work with your child to come together and discuss progress. This collaborative approach allows us to set new goals for the year ahead, ensuring that everyone involved in your child’s education is aligned and working towards the same objectives. These TAC meetings have proven to be extremely beneficial, fostering greater cohesion between home and professionals and resulting in accelerated progress from our collaborative goals.

Parent Training

Throughout the year, we also offer a variety of parent workshops aimed at strengthening the collaboration between home and school. These workshops empower parents by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to support their child’s learning effectively. By attending these events, you will gain a deeper understanding of the methodologies and practices used in our classrooms, enabling you to play an active role in your child’s educational journey. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Our Students

At Anfield St. Bosco Koon Ying School our students are the heart of our school community. We value the opportunity to educate their ‘hearts and minds’ through the learning experiences that we provide, and welcome the rich and diverse backgrounds that they bring to our school community.
We offer each and every student within Anfield St. Bosco Koon Ying the opportunity to achieve success and to feel empowered to tackle new challenges, regardless of their needs.
Our Anfield St. Bosco Koon Ying students are able to access a wide range of opportunities within a specialist environment, which provides them with access to a rich and diverse range of learning and teaching opportunities, during their primary school years.
We value each and every student within our school community and welcome the opportunity to provide an inclusive learning environment within which everyone is respected and supported by our specialist staff.

Friends of Anfield (FOA)

Friends of Anfield (FOA) is our voluntary parents’ association, working in partnership with the school to support our students and community.
Its main objectives are:

  • To promote Anfield
  • To provide practical assistance in various areas of the school
  • To act as a forum for discussion
  • To promote and assist in fundraising projects
  • To organise social activities and events that bring the school family together

Membership in Friends of Anfield is automatic upon joining the school. While FOA is not a policy-forming body and does not address academic matters, issues raised at the Committee’s meetings may be put forward for further discussion by the Head of School, Staff, and Board if the Committee wishes. The Committee comprises parents of students from various year groups represented in the school, along with the Head of School.

Our Friends of Anfield volunteers support the school in a range of activities throughout the year, including:

  • Fruit Friday tuck shop
  • Organising a visit from Santa Claus at Christmas
  • Lantern Festival party games
  • Easter egg hunt
  • End-of-year party and gifts for students
  • Anfield Fair food stall
