UK National Curriculum

U.K. National Curriculum
At Anfield School, our learning and teaching follows the U.K. National Curriculum, enhanced with an international perspective to cater to all students from Year 1 to Year 6.
Our curriculum includes the following subjects:

  • Art & Design
  • Computing
  • Design Technology (D.T.)
  • English
  • Geography
  • History
  • Chinese Studies (taught daily)
  • Mathematics
  • Music
  • Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship Education (P.S.H.C.E)
  • Physical Education (P.E.)
  • Spanish (Y3-6 only)

With two classes in each year group and an excellent teacher-to-student ratio, we support children’s academic, personal, and social development. Most learning activities occur in the classroom, but we extend learning beyond these walls through dedicated specialist teaching rooms and the external environment. Core subjects, particularly English and mathematics, are taught daily by class teachers and are often linked to the topics or countries being studied. Our foundation subjects are taught either as stand-alone lessons or through a cross-curricular approach, which creatively interconnects various subjects to enhance students’ knowledge and skills while keeping them engaged.

Specialist Areas of Learning

Specialist Areas of Learning

Our team of specialist teachers in music, P.E., and Spanish (Y3-6 only) brings their expertise to create exciting lessons each week. Students learn various new skills and have opportunities to express their thoughts and ideas through collaborative projects. Many of these specialist skills are showcased during special event days and extra-curricular activities at Anfield.

At Anfield School, our Chinese Studies curriculum is designed to accommodate our students’ diverse language backgrounds. We teach Mandarin using traditional Chinese characters, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. We employ a range of teaching methods tailored to individual learning needs.

Recognising the world’s rich diversity, we support our students in embracing a variety of opinions and cultures as part of their life skills development. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, and as a caring school, we help them thrive in a global community where critical, creative, and collaborative thinking are essential. We encourage respect for others and their viewpoints while fostering a sense of responsibility for the environment.
International Mindedness at Anfield is embodied in the following values:
• Respect for diversity
• Understanding of culture
• Global awareness
• Analytical thinking
• Shared humanity
